At the beginning of the year, I would not have
expected my life to be where it is now entering 2024 but, it has been filled
with many blessings, big and small. Many changes happened making it a year of
major growth. 2024 has started off completely different than any of my past
years and I have slowly been learning how to set a new routine in this new kind
of life that I'm living.

exciting life updates to share. One of the last times I updated my blog I shared
my inspiration board for 2023. If you've read that post you would have seen that
this year I have been expecting many life changes and unknown seasons of
opportunity.
<div><br></div>
<div>
When I wrote that post I didn't quite know what to expect for the year but so
far 2023 has lived up to the expectation of a year of change. For starters, I
got engaged! On April 1 (yes, April Fools' Day) my now fiancé and I took a
trip to Corpus Christi to visit his family and "take some family pictures".
However, taking family pictures was a cover for the real reason a photographer
was taking photos of us. At around 6:30pm that day, he proposed to me at the
marina and it has been a sweet and joyful whirlwind ever since!

and I decided to do the same this year. Creating these boards gives me
inspiration and encouragement throughout the year as I focus on what's important
to me.<div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ6E3fTrYgXtYIrktq8WIljSPyolchANylqPNYl9ZJllxLAW_TkgFdW7Xvy5quiRZLD7zGozdVQAcfFr6eb6S4e8KorVu6zpcHeVHI7bJH48emno9mTBCI_k7q4vpJUohG9hWNb-_1hAjQlWC71wZywaZ3LUT4pYIeZ3YQAtKPKlgs41_EavnKrnRL/s1080/2023%20Inspiration%20Board%20(Desktop%20Wallpaper)%20(2560%20%C3%97%201600%20px)%20(Phone%20Wallpaper).jpg" style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Collage" border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ6E3fTrYgXtYIrktq8WIljSPyolchANylqPNYl9ZJllxLAW_TkgFdW7Xvy5quiRZLD7zGozdVQAcfFr6eb6S4e8KorVu6zpcHeVHI7bJH48emno9mTBCI_k7q4vpJUohG9hWNb-_1hAjQlWC71wZywaZ3LUT4pYIeZ3YQAtKPKlgs41_EavnKrnRL/w640-h640/2023%20Inspiration%20Board%20(Desktop%20Wallpaper)%20(2560%20%C3%97%201600%20px)%20(Phone%20Wallpaper).jpg" width="640"></a><div>

2023 will be a year with a lot of change ahead and I want to enter into this
season with the right mindset. I can easily focus on the negatives when it
comes to changes in my life but I want to embrace the changes and view them
for what they are: parts of life that are all working together for good and
His glory. That is one of my goals for the year and is why "embrace change"
is highlighted on my board.<span></span></div></div></div><a href="https://www.mylifeasmadalyn.com/2023/01/2023-inspiration-board.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Austin, TX, USA30.267153 -97.74306081.9569191638211549 -132.8993108 58.577386836178846 -62.586810799999995tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7961914675298706377.post-29430821861341764632022-12-30T08:14:00.003-06:002023-06-28T19:17:26.093-05:002022 RecapWhat a year. I knew that it was going to be a big year with college graduation
and other milestones. 2022 has been a year to remember with so many moments I
will carry with me forever. I don't quite know what 2023 will have in store yet
but the possibilities are open. I am entering the new year with my hands open to
what God has planned for me and I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen.

I am in my last semester of college and I graduate in less than three
months. As I get closer to turning in my last assignments and taking my
last final exams, the thoughts of life post-grad are beginning to enter
my mind. Resumes, cover letters, job applications, etc. are becoming a
priority in my life as I get closer to walking across the stage. Feelings of
excitement and the unknown are also growing. With all the things that need
to be done during this upcoming season of change, I have been reminded
of Matthew 6:25-34 where Jesus instructs us not to worry and instead
consider the lilies. In other words, we are to "see how the flowers of
the field grow. They do not labor or spin". He tells us to "not worry
about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself" (NIV).</span

>I love the imagery used in these verses about the flowers not laboring but
instead just being what they were made to do. For me, this means I can
enjoy this season of life and the excitement that I have for what's next
after college without the burden of worry or stress. Yes, I can be proactive
in preparing for post-grad but whatever happens, is ultimately up to Him and
what He has in store. I need not to worry (still working on this!) but
instead just "seek first his kingdom". We can rest knowing He is
our provision. How are you being called to consider the lilies in this
season of your life? ♥</span

The past six months have been a whirlwind. This season of life has been
filled with so many blessings and opportunities but at a quick pace. Memories
have been made that will genuinely last a lifetime. From magazine interviews,
my final year in college as an undergrad, to traveling, and stepping into new
leadership roles, 2022 has been eventful, to say the least.

It's the start of a new year and one of my goals from my
<a href="https://www.mylifeasmadalyn.com/2022/01/2022-inspiration-board.html" target="_blank">2022 Inspiration Board</a>
was to live simply. Within the past year or so I have been wanting to simplify
my life and be intentional about my priorities. Contrary to the popularity of
materialism, I think simplicity is more valuable and, frankly, more
sustainable. As Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV) says, "Do not store up for yourselves
treasures on earth...but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven...For
where your treasure is, there your heart will be also".

for our attention. With what seems like so much negativity around
us, it can be easy to slip into an unhealthy habit of letting the negativity
take a higher place in our hearts rather than the good that comes from God. I
know that when I fill my mind with negative things that I see or hear, it can
begin to transform my heart and mind to become more downcast
and hyper-focused on the bad rather than the good. When all the negative
stimulus around us is constantly bombarding our minds, the same can
happen to others, too. So much negativity can lead to a negative outlook on
life that takes away from the light that should be in the world. In other
words, it can make it harder to be attuned to the good.</span><div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://i.postimg.cc/jS2Y8Xwz/What-Is-Feeding-Your-Soul.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="800" height="640" src="https://i.postimg.cc/jS2Y8Xwz/What-Is-Feeding-Your-Soul.jpg" width="640"></a></div><div><div><span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><div style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span><span></span></span></div></span></span></div></div><a href="https://www.mylifeasmadalyn.com/2022/01/what-is-feeding-your-soul.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Austin, TX, USA30.267153 -97.74306081.9569191638211549 -132.8993108 58.577386836178846 -62.586810799999995tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7961914675298706377.post-89165227117268316392022-01-12T15:46:00.016-06:002022-09-16T16:10:48.540-05:002022 Inspiration BoardThis year I made a 2022 inspiration board along with my friends. On New Year's
Eve, we presented them to each other to encourage one another throughout the new
year. I loved this idea as, in previous years, I chose a word for the year but
hadn't chosen one in a while. By making an entire inspiration board for the year
I not only could expand on picking a word for the year but I would also have
accountability in following through with what I put on it. If you have the
chance to create a board for the new year with your friends you should! It's a
lot of fun and it's never too late.
<div><br></div>
<div>
I thought it would be fun to share with you all what my 2022 board looks like
and explain each aspect of it in more detail. If you are wanting ideas for
your own yearly inspiration or just want to sit back and pretend like I'm in
your living room presenting it to you for fun, grab some coffee and let's get
into it. Here is my 2022 inspiration board.

Before the new year
begins with more activities and milestones ahead, here is a look back at what
2021 had in store. It was definitely one of my most eventful years to date and
it was a good year overall.

Hello everyone! Today I will be sharing my photography workflow with you all
in the hopes that it will help those who may already have a photography
business, are thinking about starting one, or would just like a
behind-the-scenes look into how a photography business runs.
</p>
<p>
I started my business (<a href="https://madalyndobbsphotography.mypixieset.com" target="_blank">Madalyn Dobbs Photography</a>) in June of 2020. At that time I had a general idea for how I wanted my
workflow to look when booking sessions but it wasn't until a few sessions
later that I finally figured out a comfortable and efficient process.

<span><span style="font-family: inherit;">Do you ever find it a challenge to be vulnerable with people? I know I
do. It can be hard opening up to someone and letting people in
your life if you don't know how they will respond to what
you share. Sometimes it can feel like it's just easier to show people
a filtered version of ourselves rather than place our full lives
on display. However, when we do find a person or group of people that we
feel free to open up to, it can make a big difference in our
relationship with those people. When we foster an environment of
transparency with openness, communication, and accountability,
genuine and meaningful relationships can flourish. Only in those
genuine relationships is where we can experience rest from striving to
be someone we are not and substantial personal growth.</span></span>

<span><span style="font-family: inherit;">Friends are such a great blessing from God. The fact that He created us
with the ability to form meaningful relationships with each other is a
special gift that He gave us as humans. We have the ability to not only
form relationships with each other but be representatives of God's love
for us through actionable actions for each other here on earth. What a
cool opportunity that is! Because of the love that He shows us, we can
forward that love to those around us!</span></span>

We are already a month into summer break but I decided to make a few goals for
the next couple of months to make the most of this time of the year. For me,
summer is a time for opportunities and new experiences since I have a schedule
that allows for more freedom. Sometimes the days can just fly by if I don't
take advantage of them and set my mind on things that I want to do or
accomplish so this summer I decided to make a note of some things that I want
to have done over this season.

long time. However, every time I thought about sitting down and writing it
became a little overwhelming thinking about everything that I would want to
include. I want this post to be a resource to others who were in the same boat
that I was in but at the same time, it's hard compiling years of research and
many (many!) long nights brainstorming into a single blog post. I will
try my best to compile everything that I know or have done over the years for
my business but it is an ongoing learning process and new things need to be
done regularly. If you have any specific questions after reading this post

Recently, I asked many different women in my life for their best piece of
advice. Since all of these women are in different walks of life and have each
endured different experiences throughout their time here on earth, I thought
that it would be interesting to learn from what each one had to say. Every
single piece of advice that was shared with me was so thought-provoking and
wise, that I decided to share it with all of you as well! I have kept each
piece of advice anonymous and have made minor edits for readability purposes
but, otherwise, left their direct quotes the same.

Before I share, I wanted to say thank you to everyone that took part in this
and sent me their piece of advice! I appreciate your vulnerability and candor
in sharing these with me. I am blessed to get to learn from each one of you.<span></span></span></p><a href="https://www.mylifeasmadalyn.com/2021/03/wise-words-of-wisdom.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Austin, TX, USA30.267153 -97.74306081.9569191638211549 -132.8993108 58.577386836178846 -62.586810799999995tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7961914675298706377.post-38707972504875700572021-03-19T12:51:00.005-05:002021-06-28T10:43:57.492-05:00You are right where you need to be.<div style="text-align: left;">

Have you recently felt a desire to rush past a chapter in your life and move
on to the next (hopefully) better one? I know I have felt that desire many
times throughout my life—more so because of the recent troubles of this past
year.

Trials are a hot topic right now, and rightfully so. We all have had trials
of some type recently, whether big or small. Sometimes when we are in the
midst of those trials, it can be hard to see the light at the end of the
tunnel and the opportunities for spiritual growth that they can offer to us.
We tend to think about our current sufferings instead of resting in God’s
providence as promised in scripture such as Jeremiah 29:11 which says ”'For
I know the plans I have for you' — this is the Lord's declaration — 'plans
for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope'"
(CSB).

Hello there! I have been gone for a little over three months and during that time I've been taking things slow and focusing on my businesses. But, I am back in time for the Christmas season and I am super excited about it because this is my favorite time of the year.

<span style="text-align: left;">I don't know about you but I am a big Christmas-hype gal. I always get so
excited for this time of the year because, most importantly, we are
reminded of Jesus' birth and I find that the joy of the season is hard to
miss from simple day-to-day events. Generally, people seem to be better
neighbors to each other, more people take the time to recognize our
Savior and I love all the Christmas traditions that we have attached to
the holiday from ugly sweaters, lights, food, music, you name it. This
season is a time of celebrating even among the challenges of this year
because we have hope in Jesus who was born into the world.</span>

Can you believe that it is almost September? As I'm sure we can all agree,
this summer did not quite look like what was expected. For me personally,
there were several events and plans that had to be canceled or postponed
throughout the summer. However, that doesn't mean that my summer was bad. In
fact, there are many things that I am thankful for over this past summer! I even posted a <a href="https://www.mylifeasmadalyn.com/2020/07/life-update.html" target="_blank">life update last month</a> that shows a little of what my summer consisted of.</p>
<p>
Since time flew by over these past several months, and we are nearing autumn,
in today's post, I am sharing a few of my goals for the month of September.
So, let's get to it.
