Life Update: I'm Engaged, Wedding Planning, Post-Grad Living

It's been a while since I've sat down to write a post and this time I have exciting life updates to share. One of the last times I updated my blog I shared my inspiration board for 2023. If you've read that post you would have seen that this year I have been expecting many life changes and unknown seasons of opportunity.

When I wrote that post I didn't quite know what to expect for the year but so far 2023 has lived up to the expectation of a year of change. For starters, I got engaged! On April 1 (yes, April Fools' Day) my now fiancé and I took a trip to Corpus Christi to visit his family and "take some family pictures". However, taking family pictures was a cover for the real reason a photographer was taking photos of us. At around 6:30pm that day, he proposed to me at the marina and it has been a sweet and joyful whirlwind ever since!

I had no idea that he was planning on proposing. What a sweet surprise!

I'm so excited to start our life together. God sent a good one. (:

Most of my time since that week that he proposed (which was also the week I turned 23!) has been filled with wedding planning and getting into a post-grad routine. I have still been interviewing on the lookout for a job during this time but I have also enjoyed growing my photography business and picking up more photo sessions. I am still photographing portraits and grads, families, and couples, and I even shot my second-ever wedding in May which was a lot of fun and I learned a lot!

I've also been blessed with freelance work including design and virtual assistant services through my business M Creative Co. It's always so rewarding when you can work for yourself and do the things that you love.

At the time that I'm writing this, we are about four months away from our wedding in late October and I have seen how the Lord has been preparing me for this next season of life and continues to do so. I have been blessed by the people that I am surrounded with and I believe I've been given this time for preparation; not just to be married and become a wife, but also for moving away from my family, friends, city, and church to start a new life and get into new routines with my soon-to-be husband. I've been so thankful for this time that I can soak up the beauty of the season that I'm in while enjoying things that will soon be changing. More importantly, I've been thankful for how He has been working on my heart throughout this year so far!

I know that the rest of this year will continue to be filled with exciting changes ahead and as I included in my inspiration board for the year, I'm "praising Him in the hallway". He is my Provider, Sustainer, and Purpose in life and I know that my future is secure in His hands.

"Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
29
He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
30
Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31
but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint."
