2021 Summer Goals

We are already a month into summer break but I decided to make a few goals for the next couple of months to make the most of this time of the year. For me, summer is a time for opportunities and new experiences since I have a schedule that allows for more freedom. Sometimes the days can just fly by if I don't take advantage of them and set my mind on things that I want to do or accomplish so this summer I decided to make a note of some things that I want to have done over this season.

Here are 10 goals that came to mind:

1. Make a new friend – I've already made several new friends this summer through a Delight Ministries campus chapter I joined through my college! It's been a great opportunity to meet new people and I look forward to meeting even more throughout the rest of this summer.

2. Finish a new Bible study – I am working on this goal right now through the study that we are going through with Delight. We are studying six different Psalms for six weeks throughout the summer. We are entering into week four this week and so far it has been great! If you are interested in the study that we are doing you can find it here. There are also accompanying podcast episodes if you search "For The Girl" anywhere that you listen to podcasts.

3. Try a new hobby – Recently I have been in the mood to try different crafting projects and this summer I wanted to try making something new that I've never tried before. This past week I used resin for the first time and made monogram keychains for my friends and I! I may try making more things with it but I also want to use my Cricut Explore Air 2 and Cricut EasyPress more this summer by trying out new materials.

4. Go to the beach – What is summer without going to the beach?! I haven't been able to go for a few years actually so I'm hoping that we will be able to make a trip happen this year.

5. Stick to a workout schedule – This month I've (semi) picked back up on a workout schedule so I'm planning on sticking to it for the duration of the summer. Since I'm sitting down so much throughout the day behind my computer, I want to make sure that I am at least getting in 30 minutes of physical activity daily. I may even set a specific area of focus for each day.

6. Try a new game – My family recently purchased Spikeball and we have really enjoyed playing it. I can confidently say that I am not very good at it right now but practice means improvement right?

7. Float the river – If you are familiar with the central Texas area you know that floating the river is a big thing during these hot months. I haven't been on a float trip this year yet but I plan on going soon. Whenever I have gone in the past it's always a highlight of the summer.

8. Go outside more – Going along with the fact that I am sitting behind a screen most of the day, this goal was made to get me moving more and enjoy outdoor activities more often. Whether it's playing sports, going to the lake, riding my bike, or even camping glamping, I want to enjoy the sun as much as I can.

9. Read 3 books – So far I have read The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom (10/10) and now I am in the middle of The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis. Soon I will need to make a decision on what to read next.

10. Limit my screen time – My last goal is to limit my screen time across all of my devices. I'd prefer to be on social media no longer than one hour a day.

What are some of your summer goals this year? Let me know in the comments below! ♥
